  • Identify Your Audience – Stat!

Before you do anything else to market your business anywhere, ever, you need to identify your target market. You need to market to somebody, and that somebody needs to be very specific. Think of it as deciding who you would absolutely, flat-out love to sell to. Who needs your product or service most? Who do you like to work with? Why might someone choose you over your competition?

  • Where Does Your Audience Hang Out?

Ever feel overwhelmed by the number of social media channels you should be on? Well guess what? Your ideal client probably isn’t active on all of them. Nobody but a professional social media marketer has time for that. Most people pick just a couple of favorites, so that’s what you should do too. A quick Google search for something like, “Facebook demographics” will tell you where your clients hang out.

  • …But Be Everywhere

Even if your ideal clients are on Facebook, Snapchat, and LinkedIn, you should still create a profile for Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. Why? For one, you can probably post some of the same content across additional platforms in just a few minutes. Plus, it helps people who don’t follow the herd find you, too. Just make sure you include links to the channels you do focus on in each profile. Profiles are quick to create and once they’re up, they’re like free arrows pointing to your website.

  • Be Consistent

Each channel attracts a different demographic, but your branding, logo, and handle should be consistent across them all. Remember, you’re not trying to reach a different market on each platform. You’re just trying to reach all of your target market.

  • Streamline It!

Okay. So your profiles are up and you’ve posted a few times. Now it’s time to take a cue from Henry Ford and create an assembly line. If you have just two hours a week to spend on social media, why not knock out all of your posts at once? Generate a list of post ideas and store them in a spreadsheet. Create a bunch of posts all at once and schedule them using tools like Hootsuite or Tweetdeck. They’ll go live while you move on to something else.

See? That wasn’t so hard. With everything you need to do to build a successful business, adding social media for small business to the list doesn’t have to be a huge chore. Luckily, you don’t have to do it alone. Vivid Visual Solutions can help you with social media marketing, branding, building the perfect website, and more. Just drop us a line.
